TOPKAPI Version 5.1 is now available in France.
Functions which were not planned initially have been added to better consider your comments and avoid postponing certain evolutions:

Calculation on time-stamped data:

These new functions provide a very simple method for making multivariable calculations on time-stamped data acquired in an asynchronous way. There are many applications, for example:

  • Conversion of raw data of the height/flow type or similar by abacus.
  • Processing of data from overflow detectors combining flow and dry/rainy weather conditions.
  • Calculation formulas allowing recombination of results from processes made by statistical functions or the Reports module.

Easier access to the data of graphs displayed: 

  • Selection of variables and time range by the graph interface
  • Copy / paste in Excel function or other document
  • Data retrieval by file on web or traditional client
  • Generation of On-the-fly summaries using preprogrammed statistical graphs
  • Result recording for subsequent reuse or consultation
  • Improved traceability for heavy or web client remote station connections


The best energy is the one which is not consumed… Although we have the impression of hearing this expression often these last few weeks, we must admit that appropriate energy saving contribute to improving our productivity.

This is not new to TOPKAPI, as, initiated quite long ago, it was then the subject of major development in 2003-2004 together with the CSTB(1), and with financial support from the ADEME(2), resulting in designing a first energy control tool.

Leveraging the huge experience acquired with the City of Strasbourg in understanding operator expectations, with TOPKAPI version 5.1 we designed a new energy performance control tool offering the following benefits:

  • Integrated with the supervision tool, it is cheaper and easier to use than a dedicated reporting tool.


  • Integrated with facility control, it helps in daily natural monitoring and just in time consumption control.
  • Considering climatic variations over short periods, it allows clearer viewing of "what should be" rather than late finding of operating anomalies.
  • Using original alert adjustment processes based on practical measurements rather than complicated theoretical calculations, it prioritizes anomaly processing.

This new tool, designated Energy Pack, is supplied as downloadable components.

To use it, you need TOPKAPI 5.1 running the REPORTS module.


Proper use of GPRS is not merely limited to performing real-time pseudo-communication. 

Thanks to the know-how acquired in telephone and GSM network communication, TOPKAPI's protocol drivers include the functions required to optimize exchanges:

  • Opening and maintaining communication sessions.
  • Compatibility with non fixed IP addresses if supported by the protocol.
  • Source time-stamped data reading rather than periodical polling.

For users changing media, from PSTN or GSM to GPRS, data flow optimization results in the volume of invoiceable data flowing through the network does not change significantly with callfrequency.

For example evolving from one daily connection to a connection every four hours will have only a very low impact if any on the bill while allowing better monitoring.

In terms of volume of data flowing over the network, using protocols with data time-stamped at the source is as efficient as event driven protocols.
